Each year, all LCSD students in first grade take a field trip locally for Gift of Literacy. When they arrive, they receive a backpack with a coloring book and crayons, information about the summer library program, and a new book of their choice to keep. This annual effort takes many volunteers and is a spring highlight for many little readers in our school community.

The Lebanon Schools Foundation was created in 1997 as a nonprofit organization by an independent group of community members. Their aim is to benefit the students in LCSD by supporting and enhancing their educational experience. They do this in a variety of ways, including teacher mini grants and student scholarships. The LCSD Welcome Center assists students and families with basic, essential needs and connects them to community resources. Filling backpacks with essential school supplies and organizing family sponsorships for the holidays are just two of their massive annual efforts. The caseload of families they support is over 600, so the daily need is enormous. Donations to the Welcome Center are tax deductible, and 100% of it goes directly to students and families.
